Sr Advisory Consultant - Portfolio Modelling

General Information:

The Senior Advisory Consultant is responsible for supporting portfolio advisory services and act as an external customer-facing consultant and an experienced and proficient practitioner working with one or a number of Hitachi Energy’s Solution sets.

Specifically seeking consultants with expertise in capacity expansion and production cost modeling for portfolio advisory services including Integrated Resource Plans, Avoided Cost Studies, RFP evaluations, Asset Valuations, and Resource Adequacy Studies.  Ideal candidate would also have prior experience in simulation model software products for markets or portfolio optimization in the North American electricity markets.

Support Hitachi Energy’s Energy Market Advisors (EMA) marketing activities by providing thought leadership in energy markets through Energy Market Intelligence workshops, industry conference presentations and panel moderations, webinar series, and whitepaper publications.

Support EMA Sales process by conducting prospective client discovery calls and business needs assessments.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of portfolio modeling services.  Lead consulting assignments of very high complexity from start to finish. Contribute to the creation of the business strategy in consulting area and ensures implementation. Conduct market studies to identify opportunities for new and repeat business for Hitachi Energy’s products and services.
  • Leads alignment and development of consultancy products and services to meet customers’ needs. Oversees and delivers challenging and major assignments. Approves and reviews tasks carried out by others. Defines best practices for the business.
  • Works without supervision. Complete latitude for independent judgment. May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed.
  • The Senior Advisory Consultant would be responsible for:
  • Enhancing Hitachi Energy’s consulting capabilities with electric utilities with best practice consulting advice
  • Establishes client contacts at senior level (e.g. Managing or Technical Director), works with customers at a strategic level and coaches them.
  • Providing insight to Hitachi Energy’s product managers for software tool improvements and roadmaps for client use in best practices and valuable reports
  • Leads consulting project of high complexity, including:
  •  Integrated Resource Plans
  •  Portfolio Risk Assessments
  •  Avoided Cost Studies
  •   RFP Evaluations
  •   Asset/Market Evaluations (including batteries and storage)
  •    Value Stack Analysis
  •    Energy Resource Plans (NetZero, Decarbonization, etc.)
  •   Capacity Accreditation Studies
  •   Resource Adequacy Studies
  •   Hawaii Power Reference Case
  •   Ad hoc Studies
  • Ideal candidate would also be an expert in one or more Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) simulation model software products for markets or portfolio optimization, such as:
  • Production Cost Modelling (Zonal and/or Nodal)
  • Integrated resource planning
  • Long-term electricity price forecasting
  • Capacity Expansion
  • Asset Valuation
  • Stochastic analysis
  • Financial Modeling.

Your Background:

  • Typically, a minimum 10 years professional experience in relevant industry.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Proven experience in professional consulting role (desirable) and in implementation of Hitachi Energy solutions or equivalent
  • Proven extensive experience identifying and managing project issues and risks, including mitigation strategies and plans.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree related to particular business area.
  • Post Graduate qualifications desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
  • Relevant industry technical certifications desirable
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert/proficient practitioner in relevant field
  • Fluent spoken and written English and language local to country in which employed
