The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) assists Pennsylvanians with disabilities to gain the skills necessary to live and work independently within their communities. We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Orientation and Mobility Intern who is eager assist those in need.
Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of orientation and mobility therapy and apply that knowledge to assist blind and visually impaired customers learn independent travel techniques within their homes, workplaces, and communities. As an Orientation and Mobility Intern, you will participate in a structured training program focused on providing orientation and mobility instruction to blind and visually impaired consumers in individualized and group settings, as well as teaching coping skills and adaptive techniques to promote self-sufficiency and independent living.
This position also assesses referrals and interviews consumers, develops an individualized service plan for each individual, selects appropriate instructional equipment, and monitors and evaluates consumer progress.
