Job Description
Sawnee EMC is seeking a PC Technician to review PC and network system capabilities; inspect personal computer equipment; prioritize and schedule repairs; and coordinate help desk activities. Requires an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of three years of experience in LAN/Network design, configuration, installation and PC troubleshooting.  Must have a thorough working knowledge of administering and maintaining the latest version of Windows Operating Systems; MS Office products; internet configuration, technologies and internet based email systems. Must have strong verbal documentation and customer service skills. Strong working abilities performing monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and administration of WAN/LAN infrastructure, SCCM, Power Shell, iPhone, iPad, Airwatch, MDT and KMS.  Must be available for alternate shift assignments and irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends as necessitated by circumstances and on-call functions.  Company does not provide relocation assistance for this position.

PURPOSE:
  1. Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems, modifying and improving personal computer and networking systems and provides technical assistance and training to system end-users.
  2. Demonstrates an awareness that the job exists to effectively serve each and every SEMC member, and at every opportunity to achieve increased member and public understanding for support SEMC.
DEMANDS:
  1. A high school diploma or equivalency.
  2. Associate’s degree with minimum of three years of experience in LAN/Network design, configuration, installation and PC troubleshooting, or equivalent experience as solely determined by the Corporation.
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must have thorough working knowledge of administering and maintaining the latest version of Windows Operating Systems. 
  2. Must have thorough working knowledge of MS Office products; Internet configuration and technologies; Internet based email systems.
  3. Must have strong verbal, documentation and customer service skills.
  4. Must have excellent remote troubleshooting and configuration skills. 
  5. Must have strong working knowledge of LAN/WAN environments including the latest version of Microsoft Windows, Firewalls and Switches.
  6. Strong working abilities performing monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and administration of WAN/LAN infrastructure, SCCM, Power Shell, iPhone, iPad, Airwatch, MDT and KMS. 
  7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles that conform to prescribed style and format.
  8. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  9. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  10. A+ certification preferred.
  11. The employee processes and maintains confidential material in circumspect manner. 
  12. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
  13. Regular and reliable attendance record.
  14. Flexibility for overtime as necessitated by circumstances and on-call functions.
  15. Flexibility for irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends as necessitated by circumstances.
  16. Position requires that this individual report in time of natural disaster and weather related emergency and recognizing that the Corporation (Sawnee EMC) is an electric utility. 
  17. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner as an essential job function.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. This position reports directly to the Network Administrator
  2. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
  3. Internal customer base consists of all Sawnee EMC personnel and assigned contract workers. 
  4. External customer base includes product vendors and technical assistance personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Studies existing information processing systems and confers with personnel to review PC and network system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to evaluate effectiveness and determine if systems meet current and projected needs. 
  2. Inspects personal computer equipment and assists in development of order sheet listing user requirements.
  3. Assess, prioritizes, coordinates and schedules repairs, enhancements and system improvements.
  4. Assist with Disaster Recovery Plan.
  5. Review and maintain software library.
  6. Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
  7. Loads software packages into computers.
  8. Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
  9. Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  10. Coordinate and provide technical and backup procedure training, and instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  11. Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  12. Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  13. Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  14. Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  15. Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  16. The employee processes and maintains confidential material in circumspect manner. 
  17. Maintains current knowledge on advances and changes in occupational field, Sawnee policies, programs and services, and in the electric utility industry in general. 
  18. Continues expanding knowledge and capability within job and organization through the independent pursuit of self-study courses and outside course offerings.  
  19. Reliably and accurately performs the duties of the position with little direct supervision. 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the work in general office conditions with sedentary physical requirements and is regularly required to sit, speak and hear, use hands to key, grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. 
  2. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, kneel or crawl. 
  3. Duties are performed within an office environment with long periods of time spent working with a computer and reading print materials.
  4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. 
  5. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds.  The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  6. The vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus. 
  7. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  8. Job requires the ability to work under frequent deadline pressures, multiple changing priorities, and frequent interruptions, along with assisting staff as needed.
