Position requires that this individual report in time of natural disaster and weather related emergency and recognizing that the Corporation (SEMC) is an electric utility.

Provides technical assistance in database maintenance and map production for the GIS.
-
Compiles source information and utilizes software and menus to perform edits to graphics, attributes, and annotation within GIS.

Design and development of distribution system using the GIS.

Daily maintenance and editing on mapping systems through such things as posting, conversions, upgrades.

Aids in creating maps and special databases for GIS installation.

Provides aid in converting existing special projects and drawings over to the GIS.
-
Updates backlog of corrections and maintenance that occurs during the conversion over to the GIS.

Review work orders, maps, blueprints, and specification materials to determine critical dimensions of design.

Assists in the operation and maintenance of all files and databases in the computer drafting and mapping systems relating to file accuracy, back up procedures, transferring of information from different software packages to and from the GIS, and implementing new software programs into the existing system.

Collaborates with other SEMC departments, developers, and design staff to determine project requirements and design modifications as well as editing information within the GIS.

Assists other departments with software mapping related activities, and communicates with fellow employees regarding section, department, and corporate needs and project requirements and corporate needs.

Reviews work, and if necessary, makes corrections on all levels to ensure accuracy and quality control.

Coordinates the different SEMC information software displays with the GIS.

This position is subject to the demands of continual accuracy of detail, and regular deadline pressures.

May accompany survey crew in field in the collection of data required for revision of construction drawings.

Maintain current knowledge on advances and changes in occupational field, SEMC policies, programs and services, and in the electric utility industry in general.

This position reports to the Section supervisor. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This position requires the reliable and accurate performance of duties, to include implementation of quality control measures and, decision-making responsibilities, with limited direct supervision.
