Job Summary

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Education, Training, and Advocacy (ETA) programming unit with administration of the departments Programs on Demand Series, Vector Solutions Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging module, departmental Ambassador program, and planning and implementing heritage and awareness month programming. Assumes responsibility for the overall success of these programs using skills in planning, budgeting, assessing, and evaluating program initiatives.

  • Recruits, selects, trains, advises and evaluates student ambassadors and student assistants annually. Recruits, selects, trains, supervises and evaluates a Graduate Assistant and/or summer interns in accordance with the Division of Academic & Student Affairs and Human Resources processes and procedures. Designs and implements a year-long curriculum of training and development for the ambassador team and student assistants to achieve specified learning outcomes.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Programs on Demand series and EVERFI Vector Solutions Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging module to meet departmental, university goals and objectives. Provides operational and administrative direction. Establishes priorities, assigns functions, and assures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and standards. Contributes to management strategy and participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions, policy development, and other key areas.
  • Assists in developing partnerships throughout the University and community to attain program goals and objectives. Participates as a member of various Division, campus, and university committees and represents the department and the Division of Academic & Student Affairs at various community and student functions. Determines communication strategy to promote the departmental programs, services, and resources. Presents to student groups, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Facilitates and evaluates programs, services, and resources provided by the ETA programming unit and department resulting in the recommendation and implementation of changes in policies, procedures, and practices, as necessary. Advises senior management in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
  • Participates with the Director and other Program Managers to develop budget plans for the department and monitors expenditures and revenues, as necessary.
  • Oversees the Social Justice Badge Program, including but not limited to, scheduling, presenting, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Counsels students in social, academic and cultural areas affecting student development and retention outside their academic program.
  • Plans and implements heritage and awareness month programs and services that address the academic, cultural, and personal, and political needs and interests of the students served.
  • Assists in the preparation of departmental data and assessment reports.
  • Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures. May handle cash or check transactions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education, multicultural education, intercultural communication, social psychology, sociology, or another relevant field.
  • Experience working in Social Justice, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Student Affairs, or Higher Education.
