Position Summary | | The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is looking for a research professional to operate an integrated system of remote sensors on board an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to support research projects related to precision forestry and precision agriculture. This person will work on the planning of flight routes, operate the drone, calibrate the system (when needed), collect the data, pre-process the data collected into a shareable format, and perform routine maintenance to the system. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies | | Able to work independently, robust problem-solving abilities, excellent electronic and mechanical skills, and expertise in multitasking. Exhibit individual initiative, be an effective communicator, initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures in the field, and possess attention to detail. Some experience with programming is necessary. |
Physical Demands | | Driving for several hours to the research sites across the Southeast U.S., lifting heavy equipment, and working outdoors under diverse weather conditions. |
