At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Manager to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
-Responsible for operations cost, delivery, and quality.
-Oversight of department lead activities work assignments to meet schedules and contract priorities.
-Manage shop activities and provides technical direction to employees assigned to the area.
-Manage regulations relating to safety, attendance, conduct, and other plant work rules.
-Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees, and assigns duties.
-Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production or processing schedules.
-Provide guidance and measures team on development, performance, and productivity issues.
-Records time and tracks labor work orders for discrepancies; makes adjustments where required.
-Work across functional groups to maximize work performance and meet or exceed production goals.
-Reviews production forecast for efficient management of resources.
-Work with Ops Manager for changes that increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
-Responds to questions from employees pertaining to area processes or equipment operation.
-Analyzes and resolves work problems; assists employees in solving work problems.
-Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
-Works with Facilities and Engineering to maximize machine and equipment capacity for unit.
-Train employees on equipment operation, work processes, and safety procedures.
-Recommend measures to improve production or processing methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
-Prepare employee disciplinary actions, including background and supporting paperwork, for presentation to manager.
-High School diploma, or GED and two years post-high school education, (technical institutes, junior college equivalence).
-Minimum four (4) years of experience in manufacturing.
-Experience in providing clear work assignments to shop staff.
-Effectively communicate clear performance feedback to staff (individual and group settings).
-Plans shop activities and ensure achievement of goals.
-Develops and maintains work standards, processes, and procedures (individual and group settings).
-Proven track record in meeting schedule and cost objectives for part/tool fabrications and assembly as defined by site management.
-Proven ability to reduce COPQ (scrap/re-fabrication/rework) and set up new manufacturing processes.
-Conduct employee training in specifications and procedures for the plant site.
-Must be a US Person.
-Effective collaboration across work site to promote results in meeting production targets.
-Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and employee engagement).
-Understanding of aerospace industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
-In depth knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.
-Computer literacy with the ability to generate relative manufacturing reports.
-Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
-Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
-Ability to analyze capacities and manage effectively through increased demand.
-Six plus years of experience in manufacturing, preferably aerospace or composite manufacturing.
-Previous management experience.
-Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE. Flexible to work extended hours.
-Lift and transport objects up to 35 pounds; consistently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb, and kneel.
-Travel to other manufacturing sites as needed.
