ReStore Assistant Manager - Front House
The ReStore Assistant Manager - Front of House provides management for Habitat for Humanity Chicago ReStore's in-store brand experience, communication, sales performance through effective visual merchandising and pricing strategy. The ReStore Assistant Manager - Front of House is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive training, sales, and promotional strategies that meet organizational plans, ensuring budget planning and oversight, managing, and developing ReStore staff, and being a leading advocate of Habitat Chicago's mission and vision.

Key Responsibility: Merchandising (50%)
  • The ReStore Assistant Manager - Front of House will ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, assortment, and presentations. This role will consistently demonstrate responsibility for the ReStore look and feel, establishing a neat, clean and organized environment that includes creative, engaging, and well merchandised displays, flexibility, and proactive maintenance.
  • Ensure all donated items are researched, properly priced, accurately ticketed and safely moved to the sales floor in a timely manner to ensure quick sale and maximum revenue and profit generation.
  • Establish and enforce visual standards for the entire ReStore showroom, create signage as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the operations team regarding priorities, timing, and staging to ensure efficient movement of product from the donation dock to the sales floor
  • Execute on-going pricing and markdown strategies to ensure achievement of sales volume targets, safe storage, and efficient turn of product.
  • Oversee the effective merchandising of the floor, maximizing available display space and use inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.

Key Responsibility: Front of House Operations (20%)
  • The ReStore Assistant Manager - Front of House oversees the Point of Sale, maximizes available display space, and uses inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.
  • Facilitate opening and closing duties, including daily sales reconciliations, and provide support and back-up to staff and cashiers, as needed.
  • Proactively manage ReStore assets including supplies, and office equipment to ensure the productivity and safety of employees, volunteers, customers, and others, ensuring that required licenses, operation manuals, signage, and other documentation are maintained.
  • Provide accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses as required or requested.

Key Responsibility: Sales Performance and Management (20%)
  • This role will oversee project management of annual plan goals tied to brand experience and merchandising and front of house operations that improve customer and donor experiences.
  • Oversee development of standardized operation procedures that address all aspects of the business, including, but not limited to, financial, pricing, customer tracking and engagement, checkout, sold inventory, donors, etc.
  • Participate in developing content, rolling out and measuring marketing, advertising and social media programs to increase donations, sales and volunteer participation.
  • Manage communications tactics as assigned including in store signage, effective merchandising, marketing, and promotions calendar, ReStore content, etc. Maintain in door signage and effective merchandising.
  • Demonstrate outstanding service to customers, donors, volunteers, and others.

Key Responsibility: Social Media and Marketing (10%)
  • An online presence is a must in today's retail environment. This role will ensure that ReStore has an online presence with on-going posts to showcase and highlight in-store happenings and sales.
  • Update Instagram and Facebook with bi-weekly sales promotions
  • Showcase rare or interesting items with flattering images.
  • Explore future opportunities for ReStore to sell items online.

Key Responsibility: Staff Management and Training (ongoing)
  • Manage and lead staff, including developing daily goals and tasks lists and annual job plans with professional development goals; mid-year and year-end performance reviews; and ensure staff schedule developed and updated regularly to ensure coverage.
  • Communicate, train, and reinforce organization and ReStore policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, facility operations, OSHA, and personnel,
  • Ensure the ReStore brand experience team is equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities, and leadership to accomplish results and maintain employee, volunteer, and customer safety, supervision, and engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability, both to delegate and to execute, thereby leading by word and by example.
  • Demonstrates initiative represented by a sense of urgency, energy, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and follow up
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills with groups and individuals characterized by the ability to listen, speak and write well
  • Experience in training, managing, leading, and developing staff in a consistent, positive, and safety conscious manner
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Current authorization to work permanently in the United States
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM; project management systems preferred.
  • Personal volunteer experience

Position Details
  • Hours: Full-time, including weekends; evenings and meetings as required.
  • Supervises: A team consisting of several ReStore Ambassador(s)
  • Environment: The Habitat Chicago South ReStore is located at 6057 S Western in Chicago. It is accessible by car or by public transit. The ReStore Assistant Manager - Front of House will have a desk, computer, and phone line in an office.
  • Conditions: Ability to safely lift and position up to 50 pounds. The job entails occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching, often in awkward or tiring positions. 50% of the time is spent walking and standing in the showroom managing staff and assisting customers.
  • Compensation: $45,000- $47,000 annually. 30+ vacation/sick/personal days per year. 90% employer paid health insurance; access to dental, life and 401k plans with 5% match.
  • FLSA Status: This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). It does not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
