Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

In this position, you will help build and support Delta's next generation of applications. Besides writing effective middleware infrastructure and configuration management code, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining highly-scalable, middleware, DevOps pipelines for consumer-facing applications and platform services. You will use industry best practices and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of product managers, software engineers, test automation engineers, infrastructure engineers and DevOps engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES


* Perform as a key contributor in an engineering team that builds and supports customer-facing products that provide innovative solutions to challenging business use cases.

* Diagnose and correct existing system and operational problems.

* Actively participate in architectural design, system analysis, and programming activities on application software; this may often require independent research and study.

* Bring your experience working on various middleware application containers from monolithic to modern containerized solutions.

* Implement high-quality middleware infrastructure automation code with attention to scalability, security and performance. Maintain an end-to-end mindset from conception to delivery through production support, by taking ownership of specifications, quality, release deployments and the monitoring of production health.

* Produce complete, simple, and readable technical documentation.

* Test and ensure the quality of all infrastructure & configuration management code that is developed in line with principles of test-driven development and continuous delivery, utilizing test automation frameworks wherever possible.

* Collaborate closely with engineering and business as needed to define, prioritize, sequence and scope middleware engineering and infrastructure automation around business and functional requirements to drive results.

* Accurately scope effort, identify risks and clearly communicate trade-offs with team members and other stakeholders.

* Instrument infrastructure and application performance monitoring, capacity management, alerting, tools instrumentation and metrics (KPI) management.

* Perform impact assessment of product (hardware, software) upgrades, patching, migration and hot fixes.

* Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects across various environments (Regression, Performance, Production and Post-production).

* Support and collaborate with other Engineers through evaluation, design analysis, and development phases.

* Maintain knowledge, ensure competency and compliance with policies and procedures, in order to be the technical expert while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

* Bring a proven track record of handling & troubleshooting various critical Production and Non-production end to end applications & middleware infrastructure technical issues and providing comprehensive "Root Cause Analysis".

QUALIFICATIONS


* Strong experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, including YAML configuration, triggers, build agents, release management, and deployment strategies.

* Expert knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.

* Proficiency in scripting for automating tasks and interacting with systems.

* Working experience with Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines

* Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker/Podman and their integration with CI/CD pipelines.

* Familiarity with application servers like JBoss/ WebLogic and Spring Boot, ideally deployed in containers.

* Experience with Node.js applications deployed in containers.

* Knowledge of web server configuration with Apache httpd.

* Experience with JBoss/ WebLogic deployments and configuration.

* Understanding of iDaas platforms like Okta, Auth0 and WAM solutions like SiteMinder.

* Exposure to tools like Rundeck for job orchestration (optional).

* Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

* Experience in training and mentoring developers on CI/CD practices.

* Passionate about automation and continuous improvement.

* Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies quickly.

* Team player with a collaborative approach.

* Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $92,000 - $196,500
