Job Overview

Develop, implement, guide, and audit a strategy of policies and programs to support the Human Resources function and the organization. Communicate programs throughout the organization. Assist in the administration of the organization's employee and labor relations programs, policies, and procedures. This role will participate in investigations regarding employee and labor relations while giving guidance in these areas to HR colleagues at the local level.

Key Functions and Accountabilities

Provide leadership for positive Employee Relations:

  • Take an "employee advocate" role in a manner that addresses employee interests and concerns within the requirements of the business, managers, and customers.
  • Deliver employee activities that foster a meaningful connection to the Company and to further enhance working relationships.
  • Provides leadership, consultation, and guidance to HR colleagues and business leaders on employee relations and collective bargaining agreement issues, at all locations
  • Respond to plant inquiries and advise management on a variety of employee and labor relations issues such as employee/supervisor conflicts, employee discipline, and employee terminations ensuring consistency across the organization
  • Oversee the HR Audit process for all facilities
  • Act as a fill-in for the HR Managers within the facilities when we have outages.
  • Provide key stakeholders with updates on employee morale and issues.
  • Provide all employees with a confidential and accessible forum for coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Help develop the capabilities of HR professionals across the organization through training, guidance, and evaluation
  • Represent the Company in outside agency matters partnering with legal and outside counsel as necessary
  • Research and investigate employee and labor issues and coordinate efforts with HR Manager within the facilities, Legal, or outside counsel
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with union leadership at represented company locations
  • Counsel supervisors and managers within the facilities on how to effectively administer discipline when required (consistent, fair, legal, focused on improvement - however, taking an advisory role and letting managers make the final decision).
  • Ensure Human Resources output is linked to operational goals.
  • Advise leadership on Human Resources issues and changes (laws, benefit changes, and company guidelines).
  • Take on significant tasks and actions as identified by management.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years HR generalist experience / familiar with employment law, employee relations, performance management and personnel administration practices.
  • SHRM certification a plus
  • Self-starter who can motivate others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Must have either manufacturing or distribution experience
  • Serve as Human Resources subject-matter-expert.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, Web processes
