Title: Materials Trading Logistics Coordinator

Classification: Exempt, Starting Salary Range: $40-50K, based on education and/or experience

Reports To: Director of Operations

Department: Logistics Division: Materials Trading

Position Type: Full-Time Shift: 1st Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Location: Hybrid Remote w/2-3 days in-person

SUMMARY

The Materials Trading Logistics Coordinator is responsible for working with suppliers of materials, freight companies, and consumers to arrange timely pickup and delivery of goods. They will also be serving as a primary logistics coordinator for the Trading Group as well as developing and maintaining relationships with logistics vendors.

Essential Functions

  • Negotiate terms, conditions and freight rates with vendors that service our accounts to ensure a healthy base of carriers to utilize in the marketplace
  • Communicate freight market conditions routinely to the commercial group to ensure the highest level of customer service
  • Work closely with brokerage customers in accordance with PO terms and conditions regarding material pickup and delivery
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to evaluate and compare possible courses of action

when handling non-conforming brokerage loads and make recommendations to the President of Materials Trading

  • Develop and create reports as needed for internal and external customers utilizing Excel and Crystal Reports
  • Schedule load, handles issues (i.e. rejections/downgrades), and all other customer related concerns that pertain to delivering goods to the plant for end consumers
  • Train with commercial group to develop a base understanding of materials being traded in order to anticipate individual trading amongst the group
  • Assist Materials Trading team with administrative tasks including but not limited to making travel arrangements, purchasing customer/vendor gifts, mailing holiday cards and assisting with power point presentations
  • Perform 3rd party administration tasks as needed
  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and ability to work well independently
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations, work well under pressure, and continue to respond to co-workers and customers with respect and consideration
  • Must be able to interact in person with peers and public, including the ability to work onsite a minimum of 2-3 times per week
  • Must be able to travel by air, rail, car based on most efficient and effective mode of travel to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • College degree preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or similar
  • 1-3 years of logistics and/or customer service-related experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of effective methods to research, collect, and track data
  • Ability to work well in group problem solving situations and demonstrate emotional intelligence
  • Ability to edit correspondence for spelling and grammar
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve highest productivity while maintaining work quality
  • Ability to make decisions and provide support and explanation for why the decision was made
  • Ability to ask for assistance with tasks when necessary
  • Knowledge of basic algebra
  • Knowledge of RIMAS, Access Database, NovaTime, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word software

Physical Demands

  • Routinely sits; uses hands; reach with hands and arms
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as needed
  • Occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather elements
