The Opportunity:
Are you excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held in a data set? Are you fascinated by the possibilities presented by machine learning and artificial intelligence advances? In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data create new opportunities. As an Analytic Research Software Engineer, you can turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges. Across private and public sectors - from fraud detection to cancer research, to national intelligence - you know the answers are in the data.
You'll design and implement data-intensive analytic applications and solutions for complex tasks on large data sets, including extracting and presenting insights from multiple disparate data sources and types, such as cyber, language, and imagery. You'll serve as the client interface and maintain responsibility across the entire life cycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, process and systems definition, data analysis, testing and evaluation, and presentation of analysis to clients in a format they can digest, and development of algorithm-driven products and solutions.
As an Analytic Research Software Engineer, you drive innovation into large-scale analytic platforms through research and development, prototyping, and implementation. You will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse analytics on distributed systems taking these from prototype to production. You'll directly engage with all stages of data processing, analysis, indexing, prototyping, and benchmarking of user-facing analytic applications. You will work individually or as part of a team. You'll utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the environment. You will address the software components of system design to include hardware and software tradeoffs, use of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), Government off-the-shelf (GOTS), and Free and Open Source (FOSS) software as an alternative to new deployment. You'll analyze and synthesize requirements for individual software components to the complex systems.
As an Analytic Research Software Engineer, you will apply their expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures, or products and technologies. You will provide research engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline. You will develop, conduct, and evaluate new approaches to meet technical requirements faster and more efficiently. You will make recommendations and advise on research development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. You'll perform risk assessments and innovative use of new research concepts or improved techniques and procedures.
