Overview

84 Lumber is immediately hiring a Designer Manager In Training "DMIT" to join our truss manufacturing designing team in Oxford, GA.

The ideal candidate is a quick learner who is team-oriented and ready to step into a fast-paced position that has the potential to lead to a lifelong career.

The DMIT role at 84 Lumber entails exercising discretion and independent judgment in managing the design of various components manufactured by the company. This includes interpreting architectural prints to create placement layouts and engineered truss drawings. Key responsibilities include providing supervision, leadership, and development opportunities for the design technical staff to ensure efficient management of design-related tasks. Additionally, the position involves mentoring designers to enhance their communication skills and overseeing their work to ensure accuracy and quality in designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret architectural prints to design engineered components and panels, producing placement layouts and truss drawings.
  • Supervise and guide designers to ensure the accuracy of designs.
  • Schedule design work effectively.
  • Manage and resolve customer-related design issues as well as miscellaneous design challenges.
  • Develop designers' skills to facilitate their progression through various design levels.
  • Maintain effective communication with cross-functional teams, including sales, production, customer service, and management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in designing Roof & Floor Trusses, EWP/I-joist, and/or Wall panels- (Single-family or multi-family design)
  • Proficiency in database software.
  • Experience with design software, including MiTek.
  • Strong command of word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software.
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints effectively.
  • Previous experience in Multi-Family design is advantageous.
