About the College/Unit/Department
Founded in 2005, the College of Public Health is located on the University of Georgia's Health Sciences Campus. The College consists of four departments and three specialized institutes. The department is located in newly renovated facilities that house faculty, staff and students. The College of Public Health is actively engaged in community outreach activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
* 5+ years of relevant professional experience.

Position Summary
This Director of Communications will develop and advance strategic communication efforts for the University of Georgia College of Public Health as well as supervise members of the CPH Communications Office. The Director reports directly to the dean and works in close coordination and cooperation with Dean's Office units, College leadership, faculty, staff, and students across the College and the University.
The position supervises all college marketing and communications efforts to promote the College's mission and vision. The Director manages the planning, execution, and evaluation of all strategic communications, including editorial content, digital communications, and internal and external marketing campaigns, in alignment with the College and University strategic messaging and marketing strategies.
The Director leads all branding and reputation management efforts to support the College's recruitment and reputational goals, ensuring consistent visual and messaging brand standards across the College, as well as providing guidance to the CPH community and external vendors.

Communication Strategy Development, Implementation, and Brand Management
  • Develop annual College communications strategy and brand positioning, in coordination with the dean.
  • Oversee the execution of external communication strategy, including editorial and digital marketing strategy.
  • Develop and execute annual peer-to-peer marketing strategy.
  • Support the development and execution of enrollment marketing strategy.
  • Oversee and implement internal communication strategy.
  • Collect, analyze and report data on strategy initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
  • Supervise the Digital Communications Coordinator and additional team members, e.g. student assistants.
  • Manage the daily administration of the CPH Communications Office; direct editorial and digital communications planning, oversee projects, and evaluate performance of communications team members.
  • Serve as liaison to the Dean, College of Public Health administrative leaders, and faculty to ensure their communication needs are supported.
  • Serve as liaison to UGA Division of Marketing & Communications.
  • Plan and manage budget for Communications Office.
  • Serve as primary point person for vendor relationships and contracts.

External Communications Management
  • Oversee editorial content calendar to strategically promote stories and initiatives that promote the College.
  • Oversee the production of annual magazine.
  • Generate/pitch news, features, or multimedia stories that highlight college, faculty, and student accomplishments to share with key external audiences through the CPH News portal, UGA channels, social media, e-newsletters, and the annual magazine.

Internal Communications Management
  • Oversee internal communications platforms, including website content and bi-monthly internal e-newsletter, Trending
  • Manage, delegate, and/or consult on communications or marketing requests from College faculty, staff, and students.
  • Regularly meet with College leadership to incorporate needs into communication strategy.
  • Translate University-level strategies and changes to appropriate parties, e.g., approved brand and logo use for vendors.
